Introduction: The Gospel According To Pets

Parallels will be drawn between our relationships with our pets and our relationship to God. In this comparison, pets are equal to us and we play to role of God in the life of our pets. The resemblance is eerily similar. What a wonderful allegory that we have for the love of God in the way that He allows us to interact with His creation. The stories here are examples of the relationship that we have with our Heavenly Father shown through the lens of my relationship with two beautiful creatures named Meeko and Muñeca that my wife and I call our Fur Children. Both are rescues. Both have seen and experienced the redemption of a life that was doomed without our love and the choice of that love.

The love of God is even shown in the way that we take possession of our pets. Whether you shop or adopt, the process is the same. You see these animals who do not have anything and you decide that you will be the one to love them forever and love them unconditionally.

Pets rely on us, their masters, for everything. Their food, shelter, water, bathroom, emotional, and any other need is fulfilled in us. They need us for everything and we love to have them around because of our love for their company. We want them near but we also have to instill rules that they must follow to make the most of our relationship together. When the structure we create for them is in balance, everything is sweet. When these rules get broken, chaos results. However, in the latter times, teaching moments are always a pleasant by-product.
